Free tax assistance at the library

Project SCOUT provides free tax assistance to seniors, individuals with a disability, and low income residents of Santa Cruz County. Project SCOUT also assists with general tax questions.

Project SCOUT began its operations in 1968 as a private non-profit organization. They have a corps of volunteers from the local community.

This year Project SCOUT will be taking appointments over the phone or email. To make an appointment or inquiry, call Project SCOUT at 831-724-2606 or email them at projectscout@seniorscouncil.org or scoutfsa@gmail.com The public is able to leave a detailed message on the answering machine.

Appointments can also be made by calling our Telephone Information Dept at 427-7713 or by visiting the Downtown, Aptos, Felton or Capitola Branch Libraries.

For in-person tax preparation help, it is an earned income of $64,000 or less, while the "Facilitated Self-Assistance" online option has an income limit of $84,000 or less

This free tax service will be available at the following libraries: Aptos Branch, Felton Branch, Capitola Branch and the Downtown Branch.
