This award-winning falls prevention training program, "Matter of Balance" offers an evidenced-based approach to reducing the fear of falling and increasing activity levels among older adults.
Matter of Balance is a series of 8 weekly 2-hour classes for people ages 60+, meeting Tuesdays (with the exception of March 31st, when the library will be closed in observance of the Cesar Chavez holiday). The program begins on March 3rd and runs through April 28. Registration required.
Participants learn simple exercises in balance and strength building to help prevent falls, as well as home safety tips. In small group sessions, we explore techniques to overcome the fear of falling, so participants come away with a well-rounded approach to staying safe and healthy at home, and beyond.
This program is geared toward seniors who have experienced a fall or those who want to prevent a fall. Light snacks will be provided.
