While the nation honors its 250th birthday, come join a celebration of 250 years of Aptos history under flags of Spain, Mexico, and the United States.
Did you know that Aptos creek was crossed by Gaspar de Portolá in 1770? And later by John Charles Frémont in 1846?
Did you know that Mexico's independence from Spain in 1821 resulted in creation of the Aptos Rancho and surrounding estates?
Did you know that in the summer of 1876 railroads delivered carloads of San Francisco gold rush millionaires and their families to Aptos -- bank presidents, mining superintendents, merchant princes -- to celebrate the nation's centennial with their friend and business partner Claus Spreckels at his Aptos Hotel?
And we conclude by honoring Rio Del Mar and golf course in its centennial year. Come hear this and more as we celebrate 250 years of Aptos history.
Advance registration required.
