LIGHT POLLUTION - WHAT IS IT?

THE CAUSES, THE EFFECTS, AND WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT

Have you noticed excessive glare from lights at night?

Does neighborhood night light spill into your windows?

Or does it seem like there are fewer stars in the night sky than there used to be?

If so, you have experienced light pollution as have ecosystems and wildlife.

The good news is that there is much that can be done to reduce light pollution.

Join Dean Norris of DarkSky Santa Cruz to learn more about lighting and the night sky.

Dean Norris is a Member of DarkSky International, Santa Cruz DarkSky Chapter and Santa Cruz Astronomy Club. He is a retired Santa Cruz music teacher and an avid amateur astronomer.

DarkSky International: Globally 2,000+ volunteer Advocates of the 70+ Chapters protect the night sky using education, advocacy, retrofits, community science, and more.
