Did you know that Shakespeare was supposedly born and died on April 23rd? Join us after hours for a reimagining of one of his most enduring works in a belated birthday celebration for the Bard!
Local filmmakers Katelyn and Sierra Laird will be screening Verona, a Romeo and Juliet adaptation that takes place in the 1950s and was filmed entirely in Santa Cruz County. They will give a short talk on filming and acting Shakespeare before the film that will include the basics of iambic pentameter. They will also be providing additional materials to explore after the film, including:
- A collection of their books about Shakespeare, acting for Shakespeare, etc.
- A fun kids game on Shakespearean insults
- The large, framed movie poster from their film
- Decorations including their quill and ink pot, feathered ball masks, a couple of period costumes, and a few other 1600s/Tudor items
The film has a PG-13 rating, so teens and adults are equally welcome!
