Felton Branch -
Learn purposeful methods for home kitchens in this second program of our homesteading series with Raven Ridge Homestead.
Join us for an introduction to food dehydration, covering the full process from preparation to storage, with attention to how it fits into a home kitchen.
Designed for adults getting started with food preservation or looking to build on what they already know, the class centers on a clear understanding of dehydration. Topics include how dehydration works, preparing foods for drying, and working with a range of methods, including electric dehydrators, oven drying, air drying, and simple solar approaches.
The session is demonstration and discussion based, connecting food preservation skills to everyday meals and pantry use. The class includes a seasonal guide and concludes with a tasting of dehydrated foods, from savory to sweet applications, showing how it can be used across different ingredients and preparations.
This is class 2 of a three-part Food Preservation Series. Attendees are welcome to join any or all sessions. The next class, Introduction to Pressure Canning, takes place September 19.
