July's meeting will take place on the second Saturday instead of the first because of the July 4th holiday.
Our book to discuss at the July meeting is The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali. Here is a brief description:
"A heartfelt novel that explores friendship, betrayal, and redemption against the backdrop of Tehran's transformative decades. The story follows Ellie and Homan, childhood friends whose lives intertwine in the 1950s through the 1979 Iranian Revolution and into the US in 2022. The novel delves into the bonds of loyalty among women, the influence of class and culture, and the impact of political changes on Iranian women's lives. It highlights their struggles and triumphs, showcasing the resilience of women amidst societal challenges."
If you still need a copy, there are two available from the book discussion kit. Please ask for one at the Scotts Valley Library's service desk. You can also request one from another library system using LINK+ by following this link.
Light refreshments will be provided.
If you'd like to read ahead, August's book will be Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. There will be seven copies available at the July meeting.
